The Original Pickle Company prides itself on being an all Australian company that specialises in the production and manufacture of food products prepared from traditional European family recipes. The business was conceptualised and created by Spero Dellaportas, in 1963, who was the first person in Victoria, Australia to commence operation of food pickling business. The initial focus was placed on pickling onions, hence the brand name “The Original Pickle Company”, he went on to expand the business over the course of 33 years and specialised in a variety of pickled food products ranging from vegetables to seafood. His son Phillip later decided there was a need to carry on this family business and returned the wealth of experience gained by his father into the brand, as it is known today as, “The Original Pickle Company”. In addition to having gained extensive knowledge of the pickling process itself over the years of working with his father, he also grew up always being around fishermen and the local fish markets and has attained a plethora of knowledge for seafood, which is also apart of the Pickle Co range of products as well as spawning of an entire brand known as “The Crumbing Specialist” (which will be re-launched in the later part of 2009). As the business has continued to grow over the years, a new larger premise has now been recently established in Campbellfield, Victoria which houses the umbrella brand as well as “Ma’s Pantry” and “The Crumbing Specialist”. With production flow and food safety standards as key points of the building’s construction, new technology and equipment has been fitted and employed to ensure consistency in quality and the highest of standards in the production of all the products. A HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) program has also been implemented as part of the quality management system to guarantee stringent quality control in the aim of maintaining a highly respected reputation in safety and quality in production and product. The Original Pickle Company strives in consistency in excellence by producing their family recipes using only quality ingredients and the safest and most hygienic food handling methods in the production of all their products from their original pickled onions all the way through to their ready made meals. |
